MoodLifter Meno - A program for flourishing peri and post menopause

Updated: Jul 23, 2019

I am so excited to launch a program for peri and post menopausal women.

It seems to me that no one talks about menopause apart from talking in code about "that time of life" and the only symptom it appears publicly acceptable to talk about is hot flushes. Experiencing menopausal symptoms can be a life changing occurrence and there is little conversation in society about it's impact or how to live well.

Even within the NICE guidelines - the recommendations for best practice within the UKs healthcare system there is only information on diagnosis and a brief statement on treating through hormone therapy.

I want women to stop feeling alone and feel empowered to understand their bodies so I am have just launched a program to tackle this. MoodLifter Meno has in person sessions as it wants to bring women together.

Why exercise

Peri and post exercise you may not feel that you have the energy or motivation to prioritise exercises and yet physical activity has a host of benefits:

What to expect from the program?

There are a maximum of 6 people in a group so that you can feel comfortable and have the sessions tailored to your specific needs.

You need to be wearing comfortable clothing to allow for movement and sturdy trainers. Layers is best to account for the weather. We are outdoors as there are so many benefits to being outside in nature.

Each session isd an hour and will have a specific theme and follow a consistent format.

Within the warm up we will review the previous weeks goals to make us accountable for changes.

There will then be 20- 30 minutes of exercise. this exercise will be challenging but tailored to your fitness and mobility level.

Then there will be a stretch and cool down followed by a discussion about a well being topic and goal setting for the following week.

Topics covered will include:

  • Personal Strength and Posture

  • Mindfulness and Breathing

  • Hot Flushes and Sleep

  • Nutrition and Diet during the menopause

  • Compassion and Gratitude

  • Connection

The program is every Wednesday at 11.30 in Hampton In Aden Sports ground, Solihull. More times may become available.
